Parent Governor at Winstanley College

I have been the Parent Governor for Winstanley College, holding this privileged appointment since November 2015.

Being a Governor is a very rewarding, stimulating and a challenging role.  Governors give their time voluntarily to support the College by attending meetings.  They are one of the largest volunteer forces in the country, recognised as such by the Department for Education and have an important part to play in contributing to the strategic development at the College.

During my two year term of office I have been well supported.  I have been provided with and offered training opportunities both in-house and with recognised external training providers.  I have also learned a great deal about the challenges faced by the College, the Senior Management Team and the Board in striving to deliver a first class learning environment for students and for the benefit of the local community.

I have been very warmly welcomed by the Board of Governors and my views and opinions have been encouraged and listened to.  I have been involved in discussions at a strategic level which have been implemented to the benefit of all stakeholders.

In September 2017, the College will be looking to elect my successor and an election for a new Parent Governor will be held during the autumn term 2017.  If you would like to consider applying I would encourage you to find out more about the role by contacting the Clerk in the first instance at charlotte.fitch@winstanley.ac.uk
